Man Utd and Tottenham in talks for Mateus Fernandes transfer

According to journalist Ben Jacobs, Tottenham have held advanced discussions with the player, while United have maintained ongoing dialogue since May. West Ham are in a strong position financially following a £90 million cash injection, which has allowed them to resist early pressure from suitors.

Tottenham are reportedly prepared to meet a valuation of approximately £80 million to support manager Roberto De Zerbi ahead of the new season, aiming to add technical quality to their engine room. In contrast, Manchester United face a difficult dilemma; they are reluctant to be drawn into a bidding war after the departure of Casemiro left them short in midfield. Manager Michael Carrick has acknowledged that significant work is required to reshape the squad, but the club must now decide whether to match their rival's financial commitment or seek more affordable alternatives.
