Spain head coach Luis de la Fuente has openly admitted that his team is one of the favorites to win the upcoming World Cup in the United States, Mexico, and Canada. The manager stated that he has no hesitation in acknowledging Spain's status, though he emphasized that being a favorite does not guarantee results.
De la Fuente noted that the 2026 tournament will likely feature the widest range of potential winners in history. He pointed to teams like Germany, England, Brazil, Portugal, and Argentina as major challengers for the trophy.
We are among the favorites, and we are ready to fight for it and enjoy the process. However, that guarantees nothing, and we are aware of the magnitude of this challenge. At this level, anyone can beat anyone. Luis de la Fuente
Regarding the final squad selection, the manager explained that he deliberately distances himself from public debate, including discussions about the goalkeeper position. He highlighted that Spain currently boasts five or six world-class goalkeepers, noting that difficult decisions will have to be made for the final roster.
