Luca Zidane and Riyad Mahrez named in Algeria World Cup squad
Goalkeeper Luca Zidane and forward Riyad Mahrez have been included in Algeria's squad for the upcoming World Cup.
Algeria have announced their squad for the upcoming World Cup, featuring goalkeeper Luca Zidane, the son of France legend Zinedine Zidane. This marks a first World Cup call-up for the 28-year-old, who currently plays for Spanish side Granada. Zidane previously served as Algeria's first-choice goalkeeper during the Africa Cup of Nations, though his season was interrupted in April by a broken jaw and chin.
The squad also includes former Premier League star Riyad Mahrez, now playing for Saudi club Al-Ahli. Head coach Vladimir Petkovic has also recalled midfielder Nabil Bentaleb, who returns to the international fold after a seven-month absence.
