Liverpool eyes Barcelona defender as Frimpong alternative

Liverpool are exploring options to strengthen their right-back position, as Jeremie Frimpong has not yet met the club's expectations. According to Football Insider, the English side is looking for potential replacements for the Dutchman.

One of the candidates identified is Barcelona defender Jules Kounde. While Liverpool are studying the possibility of signing him, the upcoming winter transfer window is expected to focus on other positions, meaning Frimpong may remain with the squad at least until the summer.

The 25-year-old joined Liverpool in the summer of 2025. He has made five appearances across all competitions so far this season. With his contract running until the summer of 2030, any potential departure will depend on the club's future strategic decisions.
