Argentina manager Lionel Scaloni addressed the media ahead of the team's World Cup round of 16 match against Egypt. While acknowledging the possibility of a final against Spain, the coach stressed that both teams still have a long way to go in the tournament.
I would sign up for a final against Spain, but there is a long road ahead; there is still a lot to do for both national teams. Lionel Scaloni
Scaloni spoke highly of the Egyptian side coached by Hossam Hassan. He noted that Egypt possesses a clear playing style and a coach with significant experience, making them a formidable opponent that has challenged every team they have faced so far.
The coach also reflected on the difficulty of this World Cup, highlighting that physical exhaustion has leveled the playing field. According to Scaloni, even the tournament favorites have struggled to maintain their usual performance levels throughout the competition, as no team has yet reached a state of "total football."
Argentina and Egypt face off this Tuesday, July 7, in Atlanta. The winner will advance to the quarter-finals to play the victor of the Switzerland versus Colombia match.
