Rennes sporting director Loïc Désiré confirmed that the club began planning for his departure following talks with the player's agents in May, when it became clear he wanted a change of scenery. Rennes has already bolstered its defense by signing young Portuguese center-back Gonçalo Oliveira and remains in the market for another experienced addition to the backline.
