Kristi Montgomery earns first Scotland call-up

Blackburn Rovers midfielder Kristi Montgomery has received his first senior call-up to the Scotland national team. The 22-year-old has been promoted from the under-21 setup by new head coach Sebastien Pocognoli.

This roster change comes after the withdrawal of Celtic defender Kieran Tierney and Norwich midfielder Kenny McLean from the squad. The pair, who share 119 international caps, are unavailable for the upcoming Nations League fixtures against Slovenia, Switzerland, and North Macedonia.

Montgomery has established himself as a regular at Blackburn this season, starting all eight of their Championship matches. He joins a 27-man group and becomes the eighth uncapped player currently in the squad.

The selection also features several returning players, including Oli McBurnie, Scott Bain, and Napoli midfielder Billy Gilmour, who missed the World Cup through injury. Pocognoli's refreshed squad will look to compete in the upcoming international break.
