Koeman announces Netherlands squad for 2026 World Cup: No De Ligt or Simons
Ronald Koeman has named the final Netherlands squad for the 2026 World Cup, facing Japan, Sweden, and Tunisia in the group stage.

Netherlands head coach Ronald Koeman has officially announced the 26-player squad that will represent the nation at the 2026 World Cup. While the roster features a strong selection from top European leagues, the team faces significant challenges due to recent injuries.
Fans will be disappointed by the absence of two key players. Midfielder Xavi Simons will miss the tournament due to a severe cruciate ligament tear, while center-back Matthijs de Ligt is ruled out as he undergoes rehabilitation following back surgery.
The Netherlands have been drawn into Group F for the tournament. In the group stage, Koeman’s side is set to compete against the national teams of Japan, Sweden, and Tunisia.
