French striker Karim Benzema is in no rush to depart Al-Hilal, despite ongoing speculation regarding his future. According to insider Sacha Tavolieri, the 38-year-old forward is open to terminating his current agreement early, but has set a firm financial demand: the club must pay him his full salary for the remaining year of his contract.
This standoff is creating a bottleneck for the Saudi club's transfer plans. Until a compromise is reached, Al-Hilal cannot finalize the transfer of Aston Villa forward Ollie Watkins, with whom the club has reportedly already reached a principle agreement.
Benzema joined the Riyadh-based side in February this year. Since his arrival, the veteran has maintained a strong scoring record, contributing 10 goals and 5 assists in his 15 appearances for the team.
