Arsenal forward Kai Havertz has underlined the club's soaring ambitions for the upcoming season. After ending a 22-year drought to secure the Premier League title, the striker has made it clear that the team is setting their sights on winning every competition they enter.
The previous campaign was a landmark one, though it ended with a bitter shootout defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League final. Havertz, who scored in that final, believes the squad is now ready to take the next step in their development.
We want to win all the trophies. That is what we are here for. We won the Premier League, but we can do much more. We need to reach a new level to make that happen, because we understand how long the season is and how hard it is to get through all the competitions. Kai Havertz
Defending their crown will be a historic challenge, as Arsenal have never won the Premier League in consecutive seasons. While rivals like Manchester City and Chelsea have already broken their respective transfer records this summer, the Gunners have been more measured, with winger Christos Tzolis standing out after scoring in a 4-1 friendly win over Girona.
Addressing the competition's spending, Havertz noted that the team must raise their standards to keep pace. The official season kicks off for the Gunners on August 16 against Manchester City in the Community Shield, followed by their Premier League opener against Coventry City on August 21.
