Ian Rush urges Liverpool to give Andoni Iraola time to succeed

Liverpool legend Ian Rush has urged fans and the club to give new manager Andoni Iraola time to settle at Anfield. The Spaniard, who took charge in June, faces high expectations, but Rush believes patience is essential for his success.

Rush acknowledged that the standard at Liverpool is always to compete for the league title, but he warned against expecting immediate perfection. "If you start well, that will give everyone the confidence to go on and be more successful," Rush said, highlighting the importance of the opening five matches of the Premier League season.

The squad has seen significant turnover this summer, with experienced players like Mohamed Salah, Andy Robertson, and Ibrahima Konate departing. While new signings like Jeremy Jacquet and Victor Munoz have arrived, Rush emphasized that the return of injured stars like Conor Bradley, Hugo Ekitike, and Giovanni Leoni will provide a major boost to Iraola's options once they are fully fit.

Regarding Salah's imminent move to Trabzonspor, Rush expressed his respect for the forward's legacy at the club, joking that he was relieved the record goalscorer was leaving, as it keeps his own goalscoring record safe for now. The Welsh icon has also recently celebrated his career achievements with the opening of a new exhibition at the LFC Museum.
