Herbert Hainer backs Jürgen Klopp to rescue the German national team

Bayern Munich president Herbert Hainer has publicly endorsed Jürgen Klopp as the ideal candidate to take charge of the German national team. Hainer is convinced that the former Liverpool boss is the right figure to steer the squad back on track after a third consecutive early exit from the World Cup.

The German Football Association is expected to officially appoint Klopp as their new head coach next Friday. He is set to succeed Julian Nagelsmann, who resigned following the team's round-of-32 defeat to Paraguay.

Hainer praised Klopp’s ability to inspire players and unite fans, noting that the 59-year-old is an exceptional communicator. The Bayern chief emphasized that Klopp’s track record at Mainz, Borussia Dortmund, and Liverpool proves he can extract more than 100 percent from his squads.

Since departing Liverpool in May 2024, Klopp has been working as the Head of Global Soccer for the Red Bull group. He is reportedly set to sign a deal with the national team that will keep him at the helm through to the 2030 World Cup finals.
