Héctor Herrera sent off for aggressive conduct in MLS loss

Houston Dynamo midfielder Héctor Herrera became the focal point of frustration in his team's latest MLS outing. During a 0-2 home defeat to Sporting Kansas City, the Mexican international was dismissed for a clear act of aggression.

Late in the first half, Herrera involved himself in a scuffle between players, ultimately grabbing Sporting Kansas City forward Taylor Calheira by the neck and pulling him to the ground. The referee issued a red card immediately following the altercation.

The dismissal effectively killed any hope of a second-half comeback for the home side. Reduced to ten men, Houston struggled to maintain momentum and ultimately failed to recover, resulting in a painful loss.

Herrera has a history of disciplinary issues within the league. In 2024, he faced a lengthy suspension for an incident involving the match official during a playoff clash against the Seattle Sounders, an event that previously led to his contract being rescinded before his return to the club this year.
