England head into their second World Cup match looking to secure a spot in the knockout rounds with a victory over Ghana. Following a shaky defensive performance in their opener against Croatia, manager Thomas Tuchel is weighing up adjustments to his side.
The most significant potential change concerns the center of defense. John Stones, who struggled for rhythm in the first game, may be replaced by Marc Guehi. Guehi impressed off the bench against Croatia, and his inclusion would mark the first time England have started a tournament match without Stones since Euro 2016.
Midfield stability is another primary concern, specifically regarding Declan Rice. The Arsenal midfielder was substituted against Croatia after picking up a knock, and reports later confirmed he has been managing hamstring pain. However, Tuchel confirmed that Rice has trained normally this week and is expected to feature.
Elsewhere, Noni Madueke is expected to retain his spot on the right wing as Bukayo Saka continues his return to full fitness. Jude Bellingham and Harry Kane remain the centerpieces of the attack, with both players having proven their worth in the opening victory.
