Gio Reyna reportedly in, Diego Luna out of USMNT World Cup squad
Gio Reyna has reportedly been named to the U.S. men's national team's World Cup roster, while Real Salt Lake star Diego Luna has been excluded.

Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Gio Reyna has reportedly been included in the 26-player USMNT roster for the 2026 World Cup. Head coach Mauricio Pochettino has opted to select the 23-year-old based on his creative potential, despite the midfielder logging only about 500 minutes of playing time throughout this season.
Pochettino has previously described Reyna as a special player, emphasizing that his unique skill set remains valuable even if his club form has been hindered by injuries and limited appearances. Along with Reyna, the roster reportedly includes 2022 World Cup veterans Brenden Aaronson and Matt Turner, as well as defender Mark McKenzie.
In a notable surprise, Real Salt Lake star Diego Luna has been left off the squad. Luna had emerged as a standout performer during the Pochettino era, but his absence comes after he missed the March camp due to injury. Rising star Gozo also missed out on the selection despite a strong start to his MLS season.
The official roster announcement is scheduled for Tuesday in New York. Following the announcement, the team will fly to Atlanta to begin a pre-World Cup camp, featuring upcoming friendly matches against Senegal and Germany.
