Mexico forward German Berterame has expressed his support for manager Rafa Marquez, despite the team facing a difficult start to his tenure. With two draws and two losses, Marquez has recorded the worst start for a Mexico head coach since 1960, yet the squad remains calm and focused on long-term improvement.
Berterame highlighted that the limited time available to work with the group has been a significant factor. «We try to incorporate everything in each training session and then obviously apply it on the pitch. The time we have is short, but we are confident that results will improve as we have more time to work,» the forward noted.
The player emphasized that the group is united and shares a common goal. «We know it is a process, and we are going to improve sooner or later. We are all together, united, pulling in the same direction. We all want to win and we all want to smile,» he added.
During this initial cycle under Marquez, Berterame has accumulated 149 minutes of play, featuring in matches against Colombia, Peru, and Chile. The 27-year-old now has 12 caps for the national team, with two goals to his name.
The next challenge for Mexico will be critical, as they prepare to face Jamaica in the quarterfinals of the CONCACAF Nations League. The two-legged series is scheduled to take place between November 9 and 17.
