Roma manager Gian Piero Gasperini has shed light on why the transfer of midfielder Manu Kone to Chelsea did not materialise. The Italian tactician explained that the clubs simply ran out of time to complete all the necessary procedures before the transfer window slammed shut.

"Not enough time. Such transfers require the involvement of a large number of people, even for preparing contracts," said Gian Piero Gasperini.

It had been previously reported that both clubs had reached an agreement for the Frenchman's transfer, with Chelsea prepared to pay approximately €60 million. However, the deal could not be finalised before the deadline. A significant factor was Roma's reluctance to part ways with the player without securing a suitable replacement, an objective they were unable to achieve in the final hours.

As a result, Kone remains at Roma to work under Gasperini's management for the time being. Chelsea's interest in the midfielder may persist, and the possibility of a transfer could reappear on the agenda during the upcoming window.
