Francesco Farioli has secured his second trophy as FC Porto manager. The Dragons defeated second-tier side SCU Torreense, the shock winners of last season's national cup, to lift the Portuguese Super Cup in a narrow 1-0 victory.
The match was decided in the 38th minute when left winger Pepê delivered a precise cross that Victor Froholdt headed home. Despite the disparity in levels, the giant-killers from SCU Torreense remained competitive throughout the contest, forcing Porto to work for the win.
The game also marked the official debut of new signing Hwang In-beom. The midfielder, who joined from Feyenoord, entered the pitch with 15 minutes remaining to get his first taste of action under Farioli.
With the Super Cup secured, FC Porto head into next Sunday's league opener against Alverca with momentum. For SCU Torreense, the focus now shifts to their upcoming domestic campaign and their participation in the Europa League.
