Former Southampton forward Victor Udoh has passed away at the age of 21. According to Belgian media reports, the footballer's body was discovered in Abuja, the capital of Nigeria, under suspicious circumstances.
The player had returned to his home country following the end of his season in the Czech Republic. His former club, Royal Antwerp, has expressed their condolences to his family and friends.
Udoh began his European career as a teenager at Antwerp, where he impressed in the academy by scoring 12 goals in 21 appearances before making 28 appearances for the first team. In January 2025, he signed with Southampton but was unable to establish himself in the senior squad.
Following his departure from the English side, he joined the Czech club Dynamo Ceske Budejovice, signing a contract that was set to run until 2028. Official investigations into the circumstances surrounding his death are currently underway.
