Turkish giants Fenerbahce have emerged as the leading contenders to sign Atletico Madrid striker Alexander Sorloth. The proposed deal is valued at 40 million euros, a figure the Turkish side is reportedly capable of meeting to secure the Norwegian international.
Both clubs are currently negotiating the payment structure and performance-related add-ons. While a formal bid matching the full valuation has yet to be submitted, discussions between the two parties remain active.
For Atletico Madrid, moving the forward on is a strategic necessity. The funds generated from the sale are expected to balance the club's finances and provide the wage flexibility required to bring in Dusan Vlahovic, who is set to become a free agent in late June.
Sorloth's departure will force a tactical change for Diego Simeone, who will lose a physically imposing target man. However, the club believes that signing Vlahovic will provide a necessary high-intensity upgrade to their frontline as they prepare for the upcoming season.
