Football Club Chernihiv has officially announced the departure of head coach Vasyl Baranov. His assistant, Serhiy Taran, has also left the club. Both parties reached the decision to terminate their cooperation by mutual consent.
Vasyl Baranov took charge of the team in the summer of 2026, but his tenure proved to be very brief. Under his leadership, the team played only five official matches. The primary reason for this decision is likely the team's results in the new Persha Liha season, where they failed to secure a victory, drawing all four opening league matches.
The only win under Baranov's guidance came in the Ukrainian Cup, where the team defeated amateur side Lutsk-Santekhmontazh-536 away from home with a score of 2:1.
The club's management thanked Baranov and Taran for their work. Andriy Polianytsia has been appointed as interim head coach and will prepare the players for the upcoming rounds of the championship.
