Businessman Enrique Riquelme continues his efforts to formalize a bid for the presidency of Real Madrid. While recent reports indicate that Spanish banks are not participating in the required financial guarantee, sources close to Riquelme's campaign maintain that he has secured backing from a foreign bank offering more favorable conditions.

Under the club's statutes, candidates must provide a guarantee of 187 million euros. While the issuing bank must be registered with the Bank of Spain, it does not necessarily need to be a Spanish institution. The statutes also stipulate that the guarantee must be backed by personal assets.

Riquelme has officially notified the club's Electoral Board of his intention to stand for election. He must now finalize the submission of all required documentation. Should the board validate that he meets all statutory requirements—including membership tenure and nationality—he will be cleared to challenge Florentino Perez for the presidency.
