England’s preparations for their crucial Nations League fixture in Prague have been disrupted by fresh injury concerns. Defenders Ezri Konsa and Nico O'Reilly were absent from Monday's main training session at Tottenham Hotspur’s facility, with the pair restricted to individual training programmes.
While the Football Association has not disclosed specific reasons for their absence, the news comes as a significant blow to manager Thomas Tuchel. Both players completed the full 90 minutes during the recent 3-2 defeat against Spain, and their potential unavailability forces the coaching staff to reconsider their defensive structure with little time left before the squad departs.
This development adds to an already mounting injury crisis that has hit the Three Lions camp, with players like Cole Palmer, Declan Rice, Marcus Rashford, Kobbie Mainoo, and Tino Livramento already sidelined. Tuchel has previously criticized the intensity of the current international schedule, noting that the demand for four matches in three weeks is unsustainable for modern players.
If both players are ruled out, Tuchel may look to Trevoh Chalobah or Jarrad Branthwaite to provide stability in the center of the defense. Meanwhile, the vacancy at left-back could see Myles Lewis-Skelly or a returning Lewis Hall stepping into the starting lineup for the trip to Czechia.
