England call up replacements after five players withdraw from squad

Thomas Tuchel's preparations for England's upcoming Nations League campaign have been disrupted by a series of high-profile squad withdrawals. Chelsea forward Cole Palmer, Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice, Manchester United duo Kobbie Mainoo and Marcus Rashford, and Newcastle defender Tino Livramento have all been ruled out of the upcoming international fixtures.
In response to these absences, Tuchel has added Everton midfielder James Garner and Nottingham Forest captain Morgan Gibbs-White to his squad. The duo is expected to report to the training camp on Tuesday.
Tuchel previously noted that the 26-year-old Gibbs-White was on the verge of making the initial 27-man selection, citing his consistent Premier League performances. Garner also returns to the senior setup, having made his previous senior appearances earlier this year.
The withdrawals appear to be a mix of injury concerns and load management. Palmer is reportedly sitting out as a precautionary measure, while both Mainoo and Rashford were forced off during Manchester United’s recent draw with Fulham due to physical complaints.
These changes come at a difficult time as England prepares for a challenging Nations League schedule. The Three Lions are set to face Spain on September 26, a match that will serve as a significant test for the new manager's tactical vision before games against the Czech Republic and Croatia.
