Ahead of their decisive World Cup round of 16 clash against Australia, the Egypt national team delegation was involved in a tense incident in Dallas. A disagreement broke out between members of the Egyptian staff and police officers providing security at the team's hotel.

The situation began while players were greeting fans at the hotel entrance. Forward Trezeguet and assistant coach Ibrahim Hassan approached a group of supporters to take a photo with a young fan. A police officer prevented Hassan from approaching, leading to a heated exchange between the officer and the Egyptian delegation members.

As the situation escalated, the officer began shouting instructions for the group to back away, while other members of the Egyptian delegation stepped in to address the officer. Trezeguet attempted to intervene to de-escalate the situation, but the argument continued for several moments before the Egyptian delegation eventually left the area.

As of the time of publication, neither the Egyptian Football Association nor the Dallas Police Department had issued official statements regarding the incident. For Egypt, this match represents their first-ever appearance in a World Cup knockout stage after advancing through a group phase that included a victory over New Zealand and draws against Belgium and Iran.
