Dramatic exit: Kovtaliuk's last-gasp goal not enough for Botosani

Ukrainian forward Mykola Kovtaliuk forced extra time in the Romanian playoff match, but his side ultimately fell to Steaua.

In a thrilling Europa Conference League playoff semi-final in Romania, Steaua secured a 4-3 victory over Botosani after extra time. The match was a high-scoring affair that pushed the visitors to the very limit.

Ukrainian striker Mykola Kovtaliuk provided a lifeline for Botosani in the 94th minute, scoring a dramatic equalizer to force the game into additional time. However, Botosani conceded in the 107th minute, ultimately missing out on a penalty shootout.

Since joining the Romanian side last summer, Kovtaliuk has been a regular presence, appearing in 30 matches across all competitions. He leaves the playoff campaign with a personal tally of six goals and one assist for the season.
