DR Congo 3-1 Uzbekistan: Comeback victory seals World Cup knockout spot

DR Congo secured a dramatic comeback victory against Uzbekistan in their final group stage match of the 2026 World Cup, winning 3-1. The result ensures DR Congo's progression to the Round of 32, while Uzbekistan’s journey in the tournament comes to an end.

Uzbekistan started the match strongly, with Eldor Shomurodov opening the scoring in the 10th minute, giving his side a lead that they held until halftime.

The momentum shifted in the second half. Yoane Wissa equalized from the penalty spot in the 68th minute, providing the spark DR Congo needed. Fiston Mayele then put his side in the lead in the 78th minute, and Wissa completed his brace in stoppage time to seal the 3-1 win.

The victory was critical for the group standings, successfully sending DR Congo through to the knockout stage while eliminating Uzbekistan.
