Veteran Brazilian defender Dante has officially announced his retirement from professional football at the age of 42. The news was confirmed via the official channels of Ligue 1.
The final chapter of the defender's long career was spent at Nice, where he had been a mainstay since joining the club in 2016.
Dante reached the pinnacle of his club career during his tenure at Bayern Munich between 2012 and 2015. Throughout his journey, the Brazilian also represented Juventude, Lille, Charleroi, Standard Liege, Borussia Monchengladbach, and Wolfsburg.
On the international stage, Dante earned 13 caps for Brazil. He was part of the squad that won the 2013 Confederations Cup and participated in the 2014 World Cup on home soil, featuring in the semi-final against Germany.
