Daniel Peretz on Southampton goals: "It is unfinished business"

Goalkeeper Daniel Peretz has officially completed a permanent move to Southampton. Following a loan spell from Bayern Munich, the 26-year-old has signed a contract with the Saints running until 2030 in a deal worth eight million euros.

Southampton’s previous campaign ended in controversial circumstances, as they were excluded from the promotion play-off final at Wembley due to a spying scandal, allowing Hull City to take their place. Peretz, who joined during the winter, views the setback as a primary driver for the upcoming season.

Manager Tonda Eckert remains in charge and is tasked with leading the club back to the Premier League at the second attempt. Southampton begin their competitive schedule on Saturday in the League Cup against Colchester United, followed by their Championship opener against Watford one week later.

Reflecting on his time in Germany, Peretz acknowledged the influence of Manuel Neuer. Despite limited playing time at Bayern Munich, he described the iconic goalkeeper as his idol and expressed gratitude for the mentorship he received during his spell with the Bundesliga giants.
