Crystal Palace co-owner Steve Parish smoothed over issues before Dwight McNeil deal

Crystal Palace co-owner and chairman Steve Parish personally contacted Dwight McNeil's partner before the midfielder's move to the club was finalised on Tuesday. The outreach was intended to mend relations following a failed transfer attempt back in January.

During the winter window, the two clubs had agreed on a deal, but the move collapsed due to administrative delays in submitting the required paperwork, despite the player having completed a medical. Following that disappointment, McNeil's partner, Megan Sharpley, publicly voiced her frustration on social media regarding the club's handling of the situation and the impact on the player's mental health.

With the new swap deal involving Brennan Johnson now completed, Parish sought to smooth things over to ensure a fresh start for the 26-year-old at Selhurst Park. McNeil has signed a four-year contract with the club.
