Coventry City complete club-record signing of Caleb Yirenkyi

Coventry City have completed the signing of 20-year-old midfielder Caleb Yirenkyi from Danish club Nordsjaelland.

The Danish club confirmed they have received a club-record fee for the Ghana international, surpassing the €25 million mark previously set by Ernest Nuamah. The move establishes Yirenkyi as one of Coventry’s most expensive signings, alongside the recent arrival of goalkeeper Carl Rushworth.

A product of the Right to Dream Academy, Yirenkyi has made 56 appearances for Nordsjaelland. He recently featured in all four of Ghana’s matches at this summer’s World Cup, scoring the winning goal in the opening fixture against Panama.

This is Coventry’s fifth signing of the summer as the club prepares for their return to the Premier League after 25 years. The team, managed by Frank Lampard, has been aggressive in the market, having already broken their transfer record twice this summer with the additions of Aurele Amenda and Carl Rushworth.
