Corinthians faces STJD investigation over pitch invasion
The Brazilian High Sports Court (STJD) has charged Corinthians after two children entered the field during the match against Remo.
The Prosecutor's Office of the Superior Tribunal of Sports Justice (STJD) has officially charged Corinthians following a pitch invasion during their July 23rd Brazilian Championship match against Remo. The incident occurred as the club returned to action following the World Cup break.
According to the match report filed by referee Lucas Casagrande, two children wearing Corinthians jerseys entered the pitch immediately after the final whistle. They moved toward the players in an attempt to request jerseys but were quickly intercepted and removed by security personnel.
The club will be judged under Article 213 of the Brazilian Code of Sports Justice, which mandates that clubs are responsible for taking measures to prevent and suppress pitch invasions. If found guilty, the club could face a fine ranging from 100 to 100,000 reais, with the court set to consider the specific circumstances of the event before issuing a penalty.
Additionally, the STJD Prosecutor's Office has also charged Remo for a delay in returning to the field for the second half of the match. This violation of competition regulations will also be addressed by the tribunal.
