Fenway Sports Group (FSG) has confirmed a definitive agreement for the sale of a strategic minority investment in Liverpool to 1892 Holdings. The investment group includes Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and Facebook co-founder Eduardo Saverin.

Reports indicate that the consortium has acquired a 38% stake in the club. The agreement includes an option for the group to purchase a controlling stake in Liverpool within the next 12 months, although this remains a non-binding arrangement.

The group is led by British-Indian businessman Amit Bhatia, who previously served as a director and co-owner of Queens Park Rangers for 18 years. Pending regulatory approval, Bhatia is set to join Liverpool's expanded board as the club's vice-chairman.

This investment is understood to value the Premier League club between £5bn and £6bn.
