London club Chelsea is preparing to formalize its interest in Porto goalkeeper Diogo Costa. Reports indicate that the transfer has been initiated at the request of the team's new head coach, Xabi Alonso, who is looking to solidify the goalkeeper position.
At this stage, the clubs are far from an agreement. Porto currently has no intention of parting with their first-choice goalkeeper for less than his €61 million release clause. This valuation is supported by the player's strong performances on the international stage and reported interest from top European clubs including Bayern Munich and PSG.
Currently, Chelsea's proposed package is valued at approximately €40 million, a figure significantly below the Portuguese club's demands. The goalkeeper, who featured in 49 matches for Porto last season, remains one of the most sought-after prospects in his position.
