Cagliari forward Yael Trepy remains in hospital under "pharmacological sedation" and on a ventilator following an incident in a swimming pool on Sunday. The 20-year-old was airlifted to the Santissima Annunziata Civil Hospital in Sassari after being pulled from a pool at a villa on the island of Sardinia.
In a statement released by his club, medical staff indicated that Trepy is currently fever-free and his respiratory function has shown signs of improvement since his admission. While his condition was initially critical, the doctors noted that, should the positive trend continue, they will begin a gradual reduction in his sedation.

It is understood that the player had been spending time with friends in the pool when he encountered difficulties after reaching a deep section where he could not touch the bottom. The incident occurred during the squad's weekend break following their 1-0 victory over Arezzo in the Coppa Italia last Friday, a match in which Trepy played for 54 minutes.
Trepy has been with the Cagliari academy since 2022, having previously started his youth career with the French side US Creteil-Lusitanos. He made eight Serie A appearances for the Italian club last season.
