Brighton hit by Yankuba Minteh injury blow
Brighton winger Yankuba Minteh suffered a leg injury in a friendly against Roma, deepening Fabian Hurzeler's squad concerns ahead of the new season.

Brighton & Hove Albion have been dealt a fresh injury setback as winger Yankuba Minteh was forced off during their 3-0 friendly win over Roma. The Gambian international, a summer arrival from Newcastle, sustained a right leg injury early in the second half following a collision with Roma captain Bryan Cristante.
Minteh initially attempted to continue after receiving treatment but was eventually helped from the pitch in visible pain. Manager Fabian Hurzeler confirmed after the match that the club is awaiting a scan to determine the severity of the injury, noting that the impact occurred just above the ankle area.
The timing of the injury is particularly difficult for Hurzeler, who is already managing a growing list of absentees. Key players including Kaoru Mitoma, Carlos Baleba, and Evan Ferguson are currently sidelined, leaving the Seagulls stretched in crucial attacking positions.
Despite the medical concern, Brighton's performance against the Serie A side was positive, with goals from Georginio Rutter and a double from Yasin Ayari securing a comfortable result. The squad now looks ahead to their final pre-season fixture against Bologna at the Amex Stadium next Saturday, which will serve as a final test before their competitive campaign begins.
