Brenden Aaronson recounts wedding during USMNT World Cup camp

USMNT and Leeds winger Brenden Aaronson explains how he managed to attend his wedding while in the middle of national team preparations for the 2026 World Cup.

Leeds United winger Brenden Aaronson found himself in a unique situation during the U.S. national team's 2026 World Cup preparations. The player had scheduled his wedding to Milana D'Ambra over two years ago, but a sudden shift in the training camp schedule meant the ceremony fell right in the middle of the team's preparations.

Aaronson approached U.S. head coach Mauricio Pochettino in March to offer to move the date, but the coach ultimately approved a plan that allowed him to briefly leave camp for the nuptials. Aaronson admitted the situation was initially quite stressful for him and his fiancée.

We were kind of freaking out. Because you put so much time and effort into it. I mean, she put so much time in, let’s be honest, she put so much into doing the wedding, and it was just really scary. Brenden Aaronson

The wedding took place on May 30, and Aaronson left at 2:30 a.m. the following morning to travel back to Atlanta. Although he did not feature in the friendly against Senegal, he returned to training immediately and is now focusing on the upcoming match against Germany.

Coming off the best season of his career, where he made 37 appearances for Leeds with four goals and five assists, Aaronson is eager to prove himself. He remains fully committed to the team as they prepare for their World Cup opening match on June 12.
