Botafogo closes in on goalkeeper Gabriel Batista
Brazilian club Botafogo has reached an agreement to sign goalkeeper Gabriel Batista from Santa Clara, with youngster Bernardo Valim involved in the deal.

Brazilian side Botafogo is set to sign 28-year-old goalkeeper Gabriel Batista. A product of the Flamengo youth academy, Batista has been playing for Portuguese club Santa Clara and is expected to arrive this weekend for medical tests before signing a contract until 2029.
As part of the negotiation, 20-year-old midfielder Bernardo Valim will transfer to Santa Clara on a permanent basis. Although the young talent will leave, Botafogo will retain a portion of his economic rights.
This move is part of a broader effort to rebuild the squad following the departure of goalkeeper Neto. The club is also in advanced talks with Cercle Brugge goalkeeper Warleson to further bolster the position.
The club remains active in resolving outstanding transfer bans with FIFA to ensure all new signings can be registered when the window opens on July 20. Several other bans have already been lifted in recent days as the club manages its financial restructuring.
