Portugal national team midfielder Bernardo Silva has commented on his side's performance at the 2026 World Cup. The Portuguese campaign came to an end in the Round of 16 following a narrow 0-1 defeat to Spain.
The player candidly admitted that the result was a major disappointment for him and the entire squad, as the team had much more ambitious goals heading into the tournament.
“It was an unsuccessful World Cup, and I am very sorry that it ended much earlier than we all assumed. For me, it was and always will be a great honor to represent our national team. Many thanks to all the Portuguese people for the hope and support they gave us.” — Bernardo Silva
