Bayern Munich has begun the search for a goalkeeper capable of becoming a long-term successor to Manuel Neuer. According to Sky Germany, Newcastle goalkeeper Nick Pope has been added to the club's shortlist.
The German giants are reportedly seeking an experienced professional who can challenge young prospect Jonas Urbig, provide stability between the posts, and support the development of younger goalkeepers. Pope’s extensive experience in the Premier League and with the England national team makes him an appealing candidate for the club's transition strategy.
Pope's current situation at St. James' Park is uncertain, as he has slipped down the pecking order and lost his status as the primary starter. While he is under contract until 2027, the 34-year-old might be open to a new challenge if he decides to move on from Newcastle.
At this stage, Bayern Munich is merely monitoring the player's situation and has not made an official transfer offer. Reports suggest that the player himself is currently in no rush to make a definitive decision regarding his future.
