Championship side West Bromwich Albion have confirmed the signing of their first new player this summer. The Baggies have secured 22-year-old Scottish striker Barney Stewart from Falkirk for an undisclosed fee.

Stewart has signed a four-year contract, becoming the first arrival under head coach James Morrison during the current transfer window.

The forward, a Scotland Under-21 international, arrives after a productive spell in Scottish football. After scoring eight goals in 12 matches while on loan at Dunfermline Athletic during the first half of last season, he returned to Falkirk and contributed 10 goals in 21 league and cup appearances, helping the club secure promotion.

I had a great chat with the manager. He won loads of caps for Scotland and he's got loads of contacts up there, so he knows lots about me. I'm so excited by the challenge of playing in the Championship. Barney Stewart

Stewart highlighted the influence of head coach James Morrison, who earned 46 caps for Scotland, as a key factor in his decision to move to the Hawthorns.
