AS Monaco has finalized the appointment of a new coach for its Elite Group. 33-year-old German tactician Dennis Schmitt will step into the role, succeeding Djimi Traore, who will not be retained by the club.
Schmitt arrives from Eintracht Frankfurt, where he managed the reserve team and briefly served as interim head coach for the first team during the last Bundesliga season. His primary objective in the Principality will be to align the Elite Group closer to professional standards, specifically by implementing a more aggressive and athletic tactical approach.
He will be supported by new assistant coach Sofyane Cherfa. The 41-year-old is a product of the AS Monaco academy and enjoyed a long professional playing career. He transitioned into coaching recently, most notably working with the Paphos Youth League side last season.
