Andy Carroll reveals he was sexually assaulted in 2021

Former England striker Andy Carroll has revealed that he was sexually assaulted by a man in 2021. The 37-year-old shared the details in his newly released autobiography, noting that his attacker has since been sentenced to three years in prison.

The incident occurred at Carroll's home during his second spell with his hometown club, Newcastle. The perpetrator, a friend of his former partner, was found guilty of sexual offences and placed on the sex offender register.

Carroll testified in court, describing the experience as "humiliating and embarrassing." He added that the trauma of the event affected every aspect of his life, making it difficult for him to focus on football or his daily routine.

Now a player and co-owner at non-league club Dagenham & Redbridge, Carroll decided to include the incident in his book after discussing it with his partner. He expressed hope that sharing his story might help others who have gone through similar experiences.
