Andrea Maldera explains why no LNZ players were called up
The Ukraine national team coaching staff has opted to rely on familiar players for the upcoming international window.
Assistant coach of the Ukraine national team Andrea Maldera has addressed the absence of players from LNZ in the latest squad announcement. Despite the club's strong performance in the domestic league, none of their representatives were included in the list for the upcoming matches.
Maldera explained that the selection process was challenging due to the high number of candidates, including those playing abroad. The primary factor in the decision was the need for tactical integration: the coaching staff decided to rely on players they already know well to ensure efficiency during a short preparation period.
We analyzed many players and had many doubts. For this upcoming window, I decided to rely on those I know better. It is easier to integrate 5-6 new players in a short time than to try and get to know 15. Andrea Maldera
The coach assured that the door to the national team remains open for everyone. Maldera emphasized that the league a player competes in does not matter to him; instead, he prioritizes the player's motivation and desire to represent the country. He added that the staff plans to continue integrating new talents into the squad for future windows.
