Alessandro Nesta set to take charge of Avellino in Serie B
The legendary former Milan and Lazio defender is set to replace Davide Ballardini as the new head coach of Avellino.

Avellino have finalized their choice for a new head coach. According to Sky Sport Italia, former Italy, Milan, and Lazio defender Alessandro Nesta is set to take over the team. The 50-year-old will replace Davide Ballardini, who had been in charge since February 2026.
Under Ballardini's leadership, Avellino finished their most recent campaign in eighth place in the Serie B table.
This move marks the latest chapter for Nesta in his managerial career. His previous role was at Monza, which he left following a difficult season that culminated in the club's relegation to Serie B. Previously, the Italian coach has managed Miami, Perugia, Frosinone, and Reggiana. He had also turned down an offer to join the coaching staff at Tottenham earlier in his career.
