Serie B club Avellino have officially confirmed the appointment of Alessandro Nesta as their new head coach. The 50-year-old manager has signed a contract until the summer of 2028, succeeding Davide Ballardini at the helm.
This move marks a return to head coaching for Nesta, who left his previous position at Monza after the season before last. Notably, the coach turned down an offer to join Roberto De Zerbi’s staff at Tottenham in favor of leading a project of his own in the Italian second tier.
Avellino finished last season in eighth place in Serie B. The club’s campaign ended in the quarter-finals of the promotion playoffs, where they were eliminated by Catanzaro.
