Ajax winger Mika Godts has spoken out to address the speculation surrounding his future. The 21-year-old found himself at the center of transfer rumors after being named on the bench for the Eredivisie clash against PEC Zwolle, leading many to believe he was forcing a move to PSG.
Godts was quick to dismiss claims that he was striking or unhappy at the club. The winger explained that his absence was purely for medical reasons.
I felt a slight niggle yesterday in training and was still feeling a little too much discomfort in my hamstrings. If I really didn’t want to play, I wouldn’t have played in the last two matches either. We need to put an end to this rumour. I love Ajax. I grew up here and I’m happy to still be able to play for Ajax. Mika Godts
While denying any rift with the club, Godts was candid about the persistent reports linking him to the French giants. He admitted that talks are indeed taking place, but stressed that his focus remains on his current duties. He maintained that until a deal is finalized, he remains fully committed to playing for Ajax whenever called upon.
His representative, Niels De Jonck, reinforced this message, stating that the benching was a tactical and medical precaution. Ajax manager Michel Sanchez also highlighted the player's importance to his tactical setup, noting that the team struggles to create opportunities without him and expressing hope that Godts will be fully fit for upcoming European fixtures.
