Ajax complete season-long loan signing of Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen

Ajax have officially reached an agreement with Barcelona to sign veteran goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen. The 34-year-old makes the move to Amsterdam on a season-long loan deal.

The move sees the Germany international reunite with Ajax’s sporting leadership, specifically Jordi Cruyff, with whom he shares a strong professional relationship from their time in Spanish football. Cruyff expressed his satisfaction with the deal:

Ter Stegen joins the Dutch club after a highly decorated decade at Barcelona, where he made 423 appearances and secured numerous major honours, including the Champions League and seven La Liga titles. Most recently, he spent the second half of last season on loan at Girona.

The arrival of the experienced shot-stopper is a significant boost for the Ajax squad ahead of the new campaign. The German international, who also has 44 caps for his national team, is expected to anchor the club's defence throughout the coming season.
