Nations competing at the 2026 FIFA World Cup are required to submit their final squads no later than Monday, 1 June. FIFA will officially confirm these rosters the following day, Tuesday, 2 June.
Each team is permitted to name between 23 and 26 players in their final squad. Within this group, at least three players must be designated as goalkeepers.
Once squads are finalized, changes are restricted. A player may only be replaced if they suffer a serious injury or illness, and this replacement must be made up to 24 hours before the team's first match. Once this deadline passes, no further changes are allowed for outfield players.
Goalkeepers are treated as an exception to this rule. If a team's goalkeeper suffers a serious injury or illness, they can be replaced at any point during the tournament.
